After the release of our now-viral video from Project Dalisay, we have been accused of many things
Our goal was: to highlight concerning provisions in the bill and encourage an open, informed discussion. Yet we were accused of spreading misinformation, fear-mongering, and peddling fake news. We were finally given the opportunity to present our concerns to individuals with strongly opposing views. But let’s be clear 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞. 𝐒𝐁 𝟏𝟗𝟕𝟗 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞
One of the critical issues at hand is sex education. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰, 𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥.
I recognize that being equipped to teach my children about sex education is a privilege. But this should not be the case. Every parent deserves access to the knowledge and resources needed to navigate these important conversations with confidence.
The nation is listening. Lawmakers are taking action. Even the President has heard our call.
This is our moment to stand for the Filipino family.Our Constitution recognizes that the family is the foundation of our nation. It’s time we urge our legislators, communities, and faith leaders to support and strengthen families in fulfilling this role. Equip parents. Empower them with the right tools and information to raise their children with wisdom and guidance. We already have existing laws, we simply need to implement and strengthen them effectively.
The establishment of a National Family Commission would be a significant step toward this cause, demonstrating the government’s genuine commitment to reinforcing the foundation of Filipino families. If we want to protect the next generation, we must start by helping parents.
